The L.E.A.D.  Methodology  -  A unique learning and development framework that teaches ways to increase influence and to master the skills required to lead in today’s complex organizations.

L.E.A.D. utilizes four sessions (comprised of four modules each) to address leadership development across spheres of influence, from individual to group to the organization as a whole. These sessions can be delivered as part of a full-scale organizational and leadership development initiative, or as individual modules.   


LEAD Session One

Session One:   Leading Self. During this session, participants will explore ways to increase their influence, and understand the skills that are necessary to lead effectively in today’s complex organizations. 


  MODULE 1  

My Influence: Discovering and Overcoming My Own Barriers to Influence

  • Introduction: Defining influence - what makes an influential leader?                   
  • Foundational skills and practices of influential leaders  


  MODULE 2  

My Temperament: Motivators, Stressors, and Preferred Style of Communicating at Work

  • Everything DiSC Profile
  • Understanding preferred communication styles, handling conflict, and managing stress


  MODULE 3  

Self-Management: Manage Through Emotional Responses and Prioritization

  • Identifying common ineffective emotional responses at work 
  • The tyranny of the urgent: Things that get in the way of focusing on the important


  MODULE 4  

Candid Conversations: Real Dialogue at Work

  • Understanding and overcoming barriers to effective communication
  • Demonstrating listening skills through effective inquiry
LEAD Session Two

Session Two: Leading Individuals. This session provides participants with the proven skills needed to coach, delegate, give feedback, and teach employees to hold themselves accountable, with a specific focus on one-to-one interactions. 


  MODULE 5  

Accountability: How We Hold Ourselves – And Others – Accountable

  • Understand that accountability starts with self 
  • Key steps to holding self and others accountable through communication


  MODULE 6  

Giving and Receiving Feedback:  Providing Direction and Recognition

  • Using a six-step model for giving proper direction through feedback 
  • Affirming and reinforcing positive behaviors through acknowledgment 


  MODULE 7  

The Leader as Coach:  Coaching for Optimal Performance

  • Differentiating coaching from other forms of leadership
  • Overview of the GROW Model of Coaching


  MODULE 8  

Focusing on the Important:  Practicing the Art of Delegation

  • Understanding the fears that keep us from delegating
  • Applying specific steps for effective delegation
LEAD Session Three

Session Three Leading Groups. Providing leaders with the more complex skills needed to lead teams, this session will teach participants to influence teams effectively to set priorities, handle conflict, build trust, hold each other accountable, and get the bottom line results they desire. 


  MODULE 9  

Building High Performing Teams

  • Identifying common problematic behaviors and dysfunctions of teams
  • Move teams to greater levels of trust, commitment, and accountability


  MODULE 10  

Productive Conflict:  Having Effective Conflict Conversations

  • Recognizing our own approach to conflict and how it helps or hinders
  • Hold more productive conflict conversations that lead to results


  MODULE 11  

Collaborative Problem Solving: Leading Groups to Discuss and Resolve Business Challenges

  • Identifying a basic problem-solving approach with groups
  • Helping a group in parallel thinking to discuss and solve problems together


  MODULE 12  

Change and Transition:  Leading Individuals Through Organizational Change

  • Understand the dynamics of organizational change and the leader’s role
  • Identify the stages individuals go through in organizational transition
